Clothing Distribution
Another important component of the OSA ministry is Clothing Distribution. Approximately 2000 items of clothing were given to needy families during each of the major medical/dental campaigns during the past two years. Gently used and new clothing has been collected in the USA and transported to Collique. While this region in the foothills of the Andes receives very little rainfall, it is often cold and damp in the winter. Several women from Houston, Texas made a “project” of crocheting hats for infants and children. As suggested by several of the pictures in this photo gallery, the colorful hats were “warmly” appreciated by the cute kids of Collique.
Through its partnerships with South Main Baptist Church of Houston, Texas and Buckner Orphan Care International, OSA has facilitated distribution of several hundred pairs of new shoes to children in Collique. Since OSA and Buckner have similar interests in caring for impoverished children, we expect this mutually beneficial partnership to continue in the future.
