About Us

Mission Statement

Operación San Andrés (OSA) exists to provide holistic aid to the indigent and underserved people of Collique, Peru, a shantytown on the outskirts of Lima. In addition to regular medical and dental care campaigns, OSA personnel in Peru provide continuous medical, educational, nutritional, and spiritual help to the poorest residents of Collique with an emphasis on assistance to children and their families. Those who partner with OSA share our vision of demonstrating Christian love and compassion in practical ways to the marginalized people of Peru.

History of OSA

Operación San Andrés fulfills the vision of Houston cardiologist Dr. Luis A. Campos and his wife, Ruth. OSA’s first mission trip to Peru in 2003 had approximately 16 participants including doctors, dentists, nurses, and other volunteers. In 2005, OSA purchased property in Collique where an “OSA House” and sports complex have been built. This site is the base from which the ongoing medical, educational, nutritional, and spiritual ministry takes place. OSA’s ministry partners include South Main Baptist Church, Tallowood Baptist Church, The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, and Buckner International. OSA was granted 501(c)(3) “tax exempt status” in 2006.

In 2008, Christopher and Jessica Rose moved from Houston to Collique where they lived in the OSA-House while serving as full time missionaries for OSA untill May, 2011. Since August, 2011, Kees and Elizabett Abbring serve as full time missionaries for OSA.

A more complete history of OSA appears on the History page.
