During the first half of 2021, the impact of the global pandemic has been gradually decreasing in the USA and other wealthy countries.  However, that is not the case in much of the rest of the world, including many countries in South America where COVID-19 is largely uncontrolled.  As the global pandemic continues its impact in Peru, Operación San Andrés (OSA) and Luz de Esperanza (Light of Hope) Church continue providing multiple programs of support to dozens of families in Collique.  For example, every weekend, 65 children come to the church building to receive educational materials to help them improve their academic performance in school.  The photos and video below will introduce you to Sergio, a young boy who lives with his family in the upper reaches of the hills in Collique and participates in OSA’s educational enrichment program.

Dennis Rojas, Program Director for Operación San Andrés, narrates this video about Sergio and his family.
