Operación San Andrés usually sponsors two mission trips a year in April and October. Most trips include
- A medical clinic
- A dental clinic
- An eye care clinic
- Vacation Bible School (VBS)
- Construction projects
We need skilled volunteers for each of these trips. Roles include
- Physicians
- Nurses
- Dentists
- Dental hygienists
- Volunteer assistants
Men and women with construction experience are invited to join the construction teams. Other volunteers can join the VBS staff to lead craft projects, music, drama, or recreation.
All participants in the mission trips have critical roles to fill; this is not mission tourism.
Trips sponsored by churches, universities, and other organizations usually take place during Spring Break or in the summer months for the northern hemisphere.
Depending on the activities, these trips are appropriate for youth groups as well as adults. Past mission trips by church youth groups have included
- Christian education
- Vacation Bible School
- Music and drama
- Light construction
Trips sponsored by university groups are usually related to a specific field of study, such as
- Nursing
- Medicine or Pre-med
- Business
- Music
- Education
- Social work
Before planning a mission trip to Collique, we ask team leaders to read this document:
Trip timing and objectives must be approved by the Operación San Andrés Executive Committee well in advance of the trip. This will ensure that your work is compatible with ongoing activities at the Operación San Andrés site.
The planning document outlines our approval process and includes other guidelines and requirements. For example, mission teams must provide verification that all participants are covered by travel insurance.
All mission trip participants must complete the following forms, whether the trip is sponsored by Operación San Andrés or another group:
- Operación San Andrés Mission Trip to Peru Participant Data Sheet
- Operación San Andrés Medical Information and Consent Form
- Operación San Andrés Agreement and Release from Liability
- Conduct Guidelines for Mission Trip Participants and Other Volunteers
Completed forms, along with a copy of the photo page of your passport, should be returned to the trip leader, either in person or by email.
