The mission team visited Collique one evening after holding medical clinics at another site. They distributed shoes provided by Buckner International to children at a little church called Iglesia Cristiana Roca Eterna.

There were sixteen members of this mission team plus several Peruvian volunteers. The team included doctors, nurses, dentists, dental hygienists, and others.

Chris and Jessica Rose were working as schoolteachers in Houston, Texas, USA prior to moving to Collique with their infant son, Joshua. They were instrumental in starting the educational enrichment program at OSA-House.

The upgraded kitchen includes stainless steel appliances such as ovens, broiler, refrigerator, sinks, etc. and is very efficient for preparing many meals each day.

Luz de Esperanza (Light of Hope) church was started during the mission service of Kees and Elizabett Abbring. Sunday services were held in a large room at OSA House while the church building was being constructed.

David and his wife Martha lived in the San Martín region of Peru before moving to the UK where he served for eleven years as pastor of Bon Accord Free Church in Aberdeen, Scotland. David began serving as our Executive Director in early 2020.

Peruvian communities like Collique have been severely impacted by the COVID pandemic. Non-perishable food items, such as rice, pasta, beans, lentils, cooking oil, and dried oats are being donated to several soup kitchens where about 2000 meals are prepared each day.

- Luz de Esperanza Church expands ministry to outlying neighborhoods in Collique

OSA’s support of neighborhood soup kitchens during the pandemic resulted in new partnerships. Our Luz de Esperanza Church started ministry sites in the Los Jazmines and Las Lomas de San Felipe communities far up the hillside on the outskirts of Collique. Initial programs include kids’ clubs and outdoor Sunday services.

Moyobamba is a small city in the tropical foothills of the Andes in the northeastern part of Peru. Initial OSA programs in Moyobamba emphasize health and education projects with local partners such as the Luke Society and the Annie Soper Christian School.
